We had some really bad weather overnight, quite strong winds and heavy rain however it did clear this morning and we drove through to Yallingup. Yallingup is only 55 km from Margaret River so we were here before lunch. I have to say that it is strange being on a normal caravan park, maybe because the sites on this park are quite small. Fortunately it is very quiet I think there are only two more vans in here.
Anyway after we had set up and had some lunch we set of for Cape Naturliste lighthouse. On the way we called off at a few beaches - Meelup Beach and Castle Rock. Both of these beaches are surf beaches and Castle Rock in particular had quite a few surfers out there, mostly tradies who had knocked off for the day. Once again the coastline is very rugged and today especially because the wind was blowing quite strong the view was magnificent. We then went onto the lighthouse - a much smaller lighthouse that Cape Leeuwin only 59 steps to climb this time. At the top the view was incredible over the Indian Ocean, today was the opposite to Cape Leeuwin where it was very calm, we had 32 knot winds at the top of the lighthouse nearly blew us off our feet. On the way back to Yallingup we called of at Sugar Loaf Bay, where once again there were some incredible rock formations. We finished the afternoon off at Caves House which is an old English style building, quite impressive. If the weather is better tomorrow we will go back and have a walk through the gardens. We then decided to have a drive around Yallingup, there are some impressive houses up on the hillsides and some impressive views but I did not see one shop - not even a milk bar.
