Day 38

Had another full day today.  We were up early and out by 9-00am.  Took a picnic lunch with us and drove through to the Valley of the Giants about 53 kms from here near Walpole.  There we did the Tree Top Walk.  The walk is 600 metres long along a suspended walkway.  The suspension walkway gradually climbs through the trees, the highest point being 40 metres.  The views were incredible.  I was a bit concerned when the walkway was swaying, I thought Graham was making it sway but no it sways all by itself and quite a lot a times.  Nevertheless it was well worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  Apparently a cyclone went through this area about two years ago and chopped a lot of the tops of the trees off (or so one of the locals told us).  There was nothing there to confirm this apart from the trees looking like they had been lopped.

After a cuppa we then followed another path which took us through an area known as the Ancient Empire.  What an experience this was, there were massive old Tingle Trees the size of which we have never seen before. It is hard to get a photograph which shows just how big they are.

We then drove into Walpole for a look around.  We did the scenic drive around and then came back into Denmark.  Here we did the Mount Shadforth scenic drive.  This took us through some great countryside

Today was very different from other days, instead of white sand, blue water and rocks we saw lots of massive trees and green hills.
