Day 71

Long day today, we drove from Gladstone Lookout through to Carnarvon and then onto Quobba Blowholes Campsite – (Camp 6).  We picked up some supplies once again in Carnarvon before coming through here.  One thing for sure, you have to make sure you keep up the food supply – it is 71 kms from here to the nearest shop and we have to make sure we are well stocked.  There are no facilities here and no drinking water.  It is a lovely spot though – we are set up about 70 metres from the beach.  What more can you expect for $5.50 per night.  We went for a drive to Quobba Homestead – about 10 kms from here.  You can also camp there – it is $22 (2A) for a non-powered site and $27 for a powered site.  They do have drinking water and hot showers but the camp sites are not much better than here.  The weather today was the warmest we have had up to now – hopefully it will only get better from here.  The wind got up again late this evening but it was much better during the day.  The wind seems to be a constant problem here in Western Australia.  Not sure how long we are staying here but one thing is for sure it is going to be one of those places where we will not be doing very much.  The blow holes were not blowing much this afternoon we will have to go down and have a look on another day.
