Day 65

Went out into Geraldton this morning with Bev and Paul for breakfast at The Dome.  The Dome is a chain of restaurants that are very popular in West Australia.

We then revisited the HMAS Sydney memorial, which is very interesting and quite an impressive tribute to the 645 sailors that were lost.  There is a dome held up by seven columns (representing six states and one territory) which comprises of 645 seagulls, one for each soldier.  There is a bronze statue of a woman gazing out to sea waiting for news of the Sydney.  Now that the Sydney has been found there is a new plaque - which gives the co-ordinates of where it was found and they are building a water feature to put this monument on.  A wall surrounding the tribute shows photographs to the ship and the names of the crew members.

We visited the lighthouse.  Each lighthouse that we have visited have been very different.

The weather today wasn't too bad so we took the opportunity to do some washing this afternoon.

We went down the beach tonight to watch the sunset, there wasn't much of a sunset but the sky was really nice with the cargo ships in the distance waiting for their turn to unload at the wharf in Geraldton.
